DiSC Test..I'm a networker!

So, Samantha was telling me about this DiSC Personality Test which is pretty cool.

What is the DiSC test?

The DiSC is a group of psychological inventories developed by John Geier and based on the 1928 work of psychologist William Moulton Marston. The assessments classify four aspects of behavior by testing a person's preferences in word associations.

DISC is an acronym for:

Dominance
- relating to control, power and assertiveness i.e. How do you tackle problems.
- People who score high in the intensity of the 'D' styles factor are very active in dealing with
problems and challenges, while low D scores are people who want to do more research
before committing to a decision. High "D" people are described as demanding, forceful,
egocentric, strong willed, driving, determined, ambitious, aggressive, and pioneering. Low D
scores describe those who are conservative, low keyed, cooperative, calculating,
undemanding, cautious, mild, agreeable, modest and peaceful.

Influence
- relating to social situations and communication i.e. How do you deal with people.
- People with High I scores influence others through talking and activity and tend to be
emotional. They are described as convincing, magnetic, political, enthusiastic, persuasive,
warm, demonstrative, trusting, and optimistic. Those with Low I scores influence more by
data and facts, and not with feelings. They are described as reflective, factual, calculating,
skeptical, logical, suspicious, matter of fact, pessimistic, and critical.

Steadiness
- relating to patience, persistence, and thoughtfulness i.e. How do you pace yourself.
- People with High S styles scores want a steady pace, security, and don't like sudden change.
Low S intensity scores are those who like change and variety. High S persons are calm,
relaxed, patient, possessive, predictable, deliberate, stable, consistent, and tend to be
unemotional and poker faced. People with Low S scores are described as restless,
demonstrative, impatient, eager, or even impulsive.

Conscientiousness
-relating to structure and organization i.e. How you follow rules & procedures.
- Persons with High C styles adhere to rules, regulations, and structure. They like to do
quality work and do it right the first time. High C people are careful, cautious, exacting,
neat, systematic, diplomatic, accurate, tactful. Those with Low C scores challenge the
rules and want independence and are described as self-willed, stubborn, opinionated,
unsystematic, arbitrary, and careless with details.

TRY IT!!! IT'S FUN!

Ok, enough about the facts now..here's my result: I tried both version and I still got the same results. And it's pretty accurate too.. ^_^

Week 1

Week 1 of my summer job is over already! Can you believe it? Time passes by so quickly! Throughout the week, I'd learnt more about high school here than I could ever had by just watching tv and listening from my friends. Let me just state here, high school here is just like what is shown on tv: the dramas, the cliques, the problems, their thinking, attitudes..everything is so different than our secondary school aka high school back home..there is so much more colorful drama and attitude here! Things you'd never seen in our secondary schools, no matter what area you are from [ok, I'm only gonna speak for KL but I assume schools in Msia is about the same throughout the country.. *winks* ] Anyways, kids here are much more mature looking than we do back home. They look just like any adults, the way they dress, talk and act [not talking about thinking and attitudes, mind you..like I said, they're high school kids]..They're a fun and exciting bunch but handful as well..haha..It's not easy being a mentor actually but it's rewarding since I get to learn about the culture here.. =p

This weekend has just been relax, re-organizing my room and some reading..oh, I have my tv in my room now! and it's working just fine..hahaha..

weekend

Training was over yesterday and it had been fun! Our canoing trip was canceled due to the weather..It was said to have t-storm that day but then for some reason, it was sunny and cloudy that day..haha...anyways, so we moved our dinner at applebee's to lunch! It was good! hehe..yummy..I had crunchy shrimp with fries and coleslaw..[think that's how it spells?] anyways, back to topic, it was yummy! I ate so much that I didn't need dinner that night..haha..oh, before i forget, i had starwberry cheesecake too! hahaha....fyi, I love cheesecakes!!! ok, so that night, we watched movie, hung out and got to know others better! It was fun and what I realized is that everyone I know, no matter where I go, thinks that I'm a quiet person! Ironic huh? for those who knows me really well will deny that fact! hahaha..but it's just that sometimes, I don't get the topic or know much about it. So I keep quiet and listen to learn more..but then everyone just conclude I'm quiet! hahahahaha.......

The kids get here tomorrow afternoon and I'm excited! But before that, I'm going to need my good long sleep tonight..haha...

Residential Mentor Training

It's been only the third day of training and I'm having lots of fun!

1st day:
The night before moving into Futrall Hall, I was busy packing all night, well..at least I was trying to pack while my friend did most of it.. =p Anyways, I moved in on Monday morning [Thanks to Megan and her brother for helping!!! Love ya, Megan..], kinda clean the room a little, made the bed, kinda sort my stuff around the room without unpacking. Then, all the mentors were required to be at the classroom to meet all the staff and mentors. It was kinda awkward at first since I did not know anyone. I started learning names and stuff but still, I can't seem to get a common topic with anyone in the room. Everyone else were talking about tv shows, politics and stuff but obviously, I'm not very good at any of these topics..So, it was just listening and observing for me. *sigh* So, anyways, I got to know some people better as the day passes by. Talked to some, learned everyone else's name..It was a long day since I did not have enough sleep the previous night! So much for slacking for 2 weeks before that..hehe..anyways, we had a talk about child abuse and stuff..had dinner at Penguin's Ed..It was really good! =)

Day 2
Went for a rope course! It was fun and very very very tiring! hehe..ok, so, first, we played games with ropes like getting tangled and untangling, making knots etc. Then, we moved to the low-course where we had to walk on a rope as a team to get to the other side without our feet touching the ground..hehe..it's way harder than you may think. So, we have 5 person on our group, 3 guys and 2 girls. Anyways, our strategy was those with longer arms to go first. So, one guy at the beginning and one at the very end. Then, 2 with long hands have to hold me since I have the shortest arm! (again! hehe) Anyways, at one point, it felt like my arm was being stretched beyond my capability..at the end, we made it across but it felt like my arm was stretched a couple of inches longer already..hehe..no matter what, it was fun!! Then, we moved on to couple of games before our high course. We were like 33ft above the ground, standing on logs with a partner, holding each other's shoulder and walking up the log..we had to depend so much on the other person and trusting the other that they will not let go of you. It was scary, I tell you! I got up there, stepped up on the log with Mirey and started to take couple of steps. Then, I started to feel a little wobbly and scary..I realized I was shivering from the height and luckily for me, Mirey wasn't afraid of heights. She had my back the entire time, encouraging me and distracting me by chatting [what else, rite?!? *winks*] It was just nice to have her help me, and I learned to trust others better. After the logs, we came to a platform where we had to switch our safety rope to another to walk on a wire, holding another wire above us, individually. Since I was scared, I went first and my friends were just encouraging in some ways. It was comforting in some ways. I also realized that it was way harder to do it as a team instead of individual! Then, after all these, we had more games, stayed longer than planned and missed dinner at Quads...then went to tutor malay, ate junk food and cookies, and sleep..hungry... but overall, the rope course was fun and exciting and tiring! hehe..I'm sure canoing on Friday is gonna be worse for me..lol..

Day 3:
We had a campus tour this morning, getting to know where classes will be and stuff..more talks..got to know everyone better..hehe..can chat chat and just be casual..it was fun! Oh..we decorated our floor too! --Under the Sea-- That's our floor theme..then, it was dinner at Catfish's Hole was awesome as well..The food was really really good..

**my door**

Training has been fun these few days. Got to know the mentors better and we're getting along just fine!Oh, btw, did I mention that rooms around my side of the hall is empty? 'lonely...i'm so lonely..." [song] hehe..

Summer has come and the weather has started to get hotter by the hour! Ok, when I say hot, it's still not as hot as KL...haha..it's just about 28'C and it's dry. So, as long you have a fan, you'll be just fine! hehe..I'm so loving the feeling of the sun on my skin..the warm, gentle sunshine..hehe..ok, so, I miss the warm weather. It's weird, I know..but when you only have 3 months to savor the beauty of the sun, you learn to appreciate it. Since I got here last August, it had been nothing but cold/cool..so..I DO MISS THE SUN! hahaha..however, when it gets really really hot, I miss family vacations to the beach and the highlands..AR is no where near the ocean/sea..whichever you call it to be..Also, the dryness of the air is getting to me. It makes my skin so dry and flaky and I'm not kidding. Somehow, I miss hot and humid over hot and dry..call me crazy but I prefer humidity. hehe..I wanna go to the beach..it's summer..sigh..oh well..

*****

I start my summer job/training next week! I'm excited! I'll be a Residential Mentor for an Upward Bound Program here at the university. I'll be working with other mentors and high school students around here. My friends had been laughing at me, saying that the high school students will be look much more mature than I am and also taller! Well, I won't deny that, but common people, gimme some credit alright? hehe..I'm just cute this way. I love the way I am.. =p

*****
Oh, I just wanna go to a place so peaceful and cooling and just hang out with close friends..oh well, I'll be there in couple of hours, when I close my eyes and lay my head on my pillow, huging my lil pillow and my teddy bear next to me...and off to that place I wanna be..lol..yes! I'm talking about my dream..hehe..

BBQ

BBQ! Hehe..well, my friends went camping and canoing during the weekend. There was suppose to be 6 ppl [for some reason, they thought I was going too ^_^" ] but only 3 went due to the lovely unpredictable weather of Fayetteville, AR. lol..there was suppose to be 80% of t-storm that night and 50% the next day. However, 3 guys went ahead anyways. lol..they took enough food for 6ppl to BBQ there! As they were canoing, one of them caught a turtle and brought it back. I thought they were gonna keep it but horrifyingly! They wanted to boil turtle soup!!! It was so upsetting-ly horrible to hear turtle soup! I love turtles!! It's cruel! But luckily, he left the turtle on the road while trying to move stuff back to his place and forgot about it. After that, as we were heading to Wilson Park, he suddenly remembered and turned back to look for it..but the turtle managed to run away! yay for smart turtle! It was what I hoped for too! =p sorry, but I love turtles! So..katakan 'TIDAK' to turtle dishes! [obviously kempen jangan merokok got my attention! lol] so,anyways, obviously they didn't finish everything, so we had another BBQ at Wilson Park..just 3 of us..lol..
