Paul the octopus

Up to $4.5 million for the endorsement of an octopus that ate a clam out of a box labeled with the flag of a match-winning team eight consecutive times?

Since Paul is an international celebrity of the highest order now, everyone wants a piece of him - both literally and figuratively. Italy is trying to claim that he was caught in Italian waters, Spanish businessmen are trying to buy him for €30,000 ($38,000), and Dutch priests tried to dismiss him.

(cite: Yahoo! news.. http://g.sports.yahoo.com/soccer/world-cup/blog/dirty-tackle/post/Paul-the-octopus-could-make-millions?urn=sow,255780)

LA Times reported that a businessman has offered nearly $38,000 to rent Paul as a mascot for a food festival in northwestern Spain. Paul also has a Facebook page and millions of fans and followers all over the world.

After Paul's prediction on July 6, death threats and recipes from Paul's own countrymen were sent to his owner. Now that his prediction has proven true and Paul's World Cup 2010 picks remain 100% accurate, the AP reported that most Germans are now thinking about Paul fried in garlic butter.

All these fuss over an octopus is ridiculous. There is no such thing as a psychic octopus. Here is my theory..when you put an octopus to choose between 2 containers with clams in it, having a flag over the container, the probability of it choosing either one is 50%. 50% for every game, each team. 50% is a half-half..An octopus cannot recognize a flag. It is not scientifically proven that an octopus have the capability of predicting. It's a dish (sorry to those who get offended, but it is a dish in certain places.) It is merely a game of luck..OK, so, it predicted 8 games correctly..but does that make it psychic? The number of correct prediction does not increase the probability of a team winning a game, it does not add to the credential of an octopus.. Having bidding millions on an octopus that has 6 more months till its average life span is not a good investment. Having international dispute of ownership of an octopus is ridiculous. What's going to be next? Bidding billions on a chicken that has "psychic" powers too? Is this a matter of logic or just mere egoism? Is this an investment that would reap great returns? What do one gets from owning the octopus? Take it to a casino and increase your chances in winning? This is insanity..

-TAGGED-

Hola! It's Friday and I'm stuck in my room for once, without any plans and anything to do..everyone I know are either out partying or out on dates..sigh..

So, here I am, finishing this tag by JIM..haha..

The Rules:-
1. Link to your tagger and post these rules.
2. List eight (8) random facts about yourself.
3. Tag eight people at the end of this post and list their names.
4. Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving them a comment on their blogs.

Random fact #1:
I love music. I play both piano and organ, was interested in learning violin but that never work out very well. haha..piano is my way of de-stressing now. Just to relax, have fun and escape from reality.

Random fact #2:
I am way way way too optimistic at times..then again, I think and worry too much over stuff..haha..I don't get me at all..lalala

Random fact #3:
I have "food season" . Believe it or not, there is such thing. Last semester, I ate so much fries and salads..now I'm into subs. I have subs almost every other day. Turkey-swiss-lettuce-mayonaise. Toast. YUMMY.

Random fact #4:
I look timid and quiet and shy..but..everyone who knows me will tell you otherwise. I'm one of those random , crazy-idea-thinking people. haha..I love to have fun and play around..haha..

Random fact #5:
I love being treated by others and cared for. I like being fussed around. haha..makes me feels so unique and special. just like a princess. haha

Random fact #6:
I keep thinking I'm fat. sigh. bad bad bad. I am not fat but this mentality of losing weight is stuck in my mind whenever I see those skinny girls in their little outfits. makes me feel so short and so fat.. =p

Random fact #7:
I have to have people around me at all times or I'll be bored! like now..sigh..where is everyone??

Random fact #8:
I love watching cartoons and comedies. It makes you feel so carefree and relaxing. Then again, you have to watch them with friends and family..or anyone you enjoy company with.

Random fact #9: (don't know why Jim has 9, so I'll do 9 too..)
I don't trust using credit cards. If you miss one payment, your interest rate will go sky high. READ the FINE PRINTS! haha..blaw is so useful! not only in business, but our daily life too. =)

swimming

I went swimming with Candy yesterday @ HPER..the pool was so warm compared to the weather outside..thanks to the wonderful creation of heater!.. XD It was great to swim in warm waters, if you know what I mean..despite the cold weather outside, my room is cold to! for some reason, it never got any warmer even though Carolyn and I had it turned off for more than a week now...maybe it's the 7th floor thing..I wonder how people could still go to classes in their short pants and those tight fitting shirts..** anyways, after 3 months of not swimming, a few laps are enough to make me tired..I only managed to do 6 in half an hour, which is pretty bad..I should swim more to improve myself..haha..back home, me and my sis would just keep swimming but this time, I'm just horrible. I know that I'd just learn to swim not too long ago but I'm just really bad shape right now. I'm back to where I first begun laps..*sigh* Oh, there was this big weighing scale @ HPER which I always go on to when I'm there..apparently, I'd lost weight again..I really did thought I'd gain some weight at least since it's cold outside..it's a freakish 3'C outside in the afternoon..It's only fall, not winter yet..I'm gonna freeze when winter comes by..

I'm so tired. I slept late again since I had to do some assignments (which is yet to be done) and was busy filling out an application form while talking on the phone. Yesterday, Eugene called me and told me about a trip to Chicago during the Thanksgiving break organized by the university. It was limited to 38ppl and it was a great deal! $70 to Chicago? I mean, how could you possibly get to go to a big city with such budget right? Hence the application form...and guess what? we had to write 3 short paragraphs for the application..sounds like a test only..sigh..But I think I winked it and now..hopefully I'm one of the 38pax..including Eugene and Diego..why go to a trip without friends right? I wonder who else applied? I hope there'll be many people that I know on the trip or I could always make new friends..the more the merrier right? I can't wait to go to a city..I'm just city-life-deprieved right now..no one understands this feeling, but I really do miss the life in the city. It's just not the same. I may not look like your typical city girl, but one thing is for sure, till you really get to know me in the city, don't tell me I'm not suitable for the city life. Looks may be decieving sometimes... =p

Note: I have no idea what I'm updating this for? Just felt like doing so, hence a crappy blogpost.

The Keys to Your Heart

You are attracted to those who are unbridled, untrammeled, and free.

In love, you feel the most alive when things are straight-forward, and you're told that you're loved.

You'd like to your lover to think you are loyal and faithful... that you'll never change.

You would be forced to break up with someone who was ruthless, cold-blooded, and sarcastic.

Your ideal relationship is open. Both of you can talk about everything... no secrets.

Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.

You think of marriage something you've always wanted... though you haven't really thought about it.

In this moment, you think of love as something you don't need. You just feel like flirting around and playing right now.
